MIA

I know that I have been Missing in Action the past few weeks, but it has a busy past couple of weeks. After Bella's surgery, we have had a whirlwind of visitors and out-of-town guests, including my mom, Will's parents, and the Voelps, which has left little time for me to create or blog. Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks.

Mini and O watching a movie!
Mini loved this inflatable play area that our friends brought over for the kids to play with while the Voelps were visiting.

T, Mini, and O watching a movie!
I made these dresses for two dogs because their owners (very special twins) celebrated their 15th birthdays! I still can't believe I made dresses for dogs!

Will and I also made a couch from scratch for the dogs as well!
Here are the birthday girls dogs in their new dresses on their new couch!
We're working on getting Mini stunting again. She use to stunt with her daddy when she was as young as 4 months old, but then became fearful. We are hoping that we can get her to start doing it again before football season!

Etsy

I am officially on etsy!! I'm so excited about this new venture. Please check out my storefront at www.miamys.etsy.com I only have 1 listing at this time because it was a little more time consuming to list an item than I had originally planned; I will try to list more this week.

Tutorial Tuesday

Tutorial Tuesday featuring the hooded towel made for children, note this is not an infant towel. Materials needed: a hand towel, a bath towel, and a sewing machine with coordinating thread.
Step 1: Fold the hand towel in half (a hamburger fold) and sew along one side of the hamburger fold.
It should look like the below when finished! (Check out the wedding band tan line above!)
Step 2: Fold the bath towel in half (hamburger fold) and place a pin along the fold.
Step 3: Pin the the hand towel and the bath towel together so that outside sides are facing each other. The previous stitch line of the hand towel should match the fold line of the bath towel. Then stitch the hand towel and bath towel together. When finished, it should look like the picture below! I love using these for beach towels and recycling towels that you no longer use!
I made some for Mini, but added her initial to the bottom by using ultra-hold and scrap fabric; I then stitched the fabric to the towel using an embroidery stitch.

Mini's Big Operation

Today was Mini's big operation...the doctor removed her tonsils and adenoids. He is a fabulous doctor and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. After the surgery he said that not only were Mini's tonsils big, but that there was lots of scare tissue from multiple infections that proved to be more difficult to cut out; thus I know that we made the right decision!
Here is Mini Pre-Op: Post-op was a different story. Mini kept crying, but I really think it was because of the drugs, because as soon as she got in the car, she was fine...minus the high as a kite look as seen below. I gave Mini a hard time by saying, "you don't make any sense in that you will let someone dig in and around your foot with a knife with just local anesthesia (around Christmas time), but are crying uncontrollably after being put to sleep!" I know that that was probably very mean, but I want her to be a tough cookie like her mommy and daddy!

Below is a picture of my "post-op" child around dinner time...I know she looks like she is really traumatized by her surgery!

I wanted her to have fun with her "soft diet" of pudding!

She is "in LOVE" with the sucker that her Aunt Susan and cousin Cayden gave her for a "get well" present!

Mini's Big Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is Mini's surgery...yes, it has been moved up because the doctor is going to be out of town on our original day, which was this Friday. I am very anxious, and just ready to get it over with. I have gone back and forth the past couple of weeks about rather we're doing the right thing, but then last week Mini's throat was red and she started running a slight fever. At the pre-op appointment I mentioned the possibility that Mini may be coming down with strep and how that affect the surgery?! The doctor prescribed an antibiotic to combat the problem and as a precautionary measure. I know in my heart that this is the right thing to do, but I'm still very nervous about everything. Please say a little prayer for Mini tomorrow!
