21 Weeks

This week I reached the 21 week mark. I've felt a little more uncomfortable this week, but it's really nothing to complain about. Will looked at me the other night and said, "Wow, your belly is getting bigger by the day." Of course he is right...the picture below says it all! Tomorrow I have my next ultrasound; I am so excited to see my baby boys again and hope that all looks well so that a referral to a high risk specialist will be unnecessary. The doctors hinted that from here on out, I will have serial ultrasounds to make sure both boys are growing at an equal rate or at least within a good range of each other. They also eluded to the fact that they may administer the Rhogam shot and the glucose screening earlier with my history of pre-term labor as well as the increase risk of pre-term labor with twins. Tomorrow I should know more about the rest of the pregnancy, or at least the next month!

Spring Break Activities

We have had a busy Spring Break. Saturday, Mini and I attended a good friend's wedding. Luckily we were fortunate enough to miss the storms that hit the rest of eastern NC!
Mini danced the ENTIRE night!
On Sunday, Mini's daycare had an egg hunt. They also had live baby chicks and a rabbit.
She LOVED petting the rabbit!
On Monday, we went to the zoo with our good friends. We had such a good time; I don't know who was more excited, she or I?
Mini really enjoyed the elephant, especially the one who kept splashing himself!

Spring Break Sewing

I am LOVING my Spring Break! I have been able to get a lot of sewing accomplished this week; these projects are not projects that I NEEDED to get done, but they are projects that I have WANTED to work on for a while. I've had these outfit ideas in my head and fabulous fabrics purchased for a while and I've been trying to find the time to create/complete them! Here are just a few things I was able to accomplish.

20 Weeks

This week was 20 weeks for me...still can't believe how fast the time is passing. There is really no new news to report. Baby B is still WILD and kicks me all the time; I can just imagine him rearing back his little leg and trying to kick me or his brother as hard as he can...it makes me laugh! We still haven't settled on names; it's proving to be a challenge to come up with two names that are cohesive! We did purchase some fabric to make a slip cover for the car seats and additional fabric for the bedding, but I will speak more about both of these in the weeks to come. Below is the belly at 20 weeks.

19 Weeks and Counting

This week has been a busy week to say the least...between finishing some custom orders, completing my National Board retake, a PTA meeting, a Relay for Life fundraiser, and other work for school, I am exhausted! Today started my spring break, and it is needed; I'm looking forward to a week of relaxing, sewing for fun, and a few day trips sprinkled here and there!

This week was week 19 for me! The boys are very active...Baby B is going to be WILD; he was the one sticking his butt in Baby A's face or kicking him in the head during the ultrasound. I've had some FAQ, so I figured I'd address them:

Q: Do twins run in your family?
A: Not that I know of. There is a fraternal set on Will's side, but the little Internet research I've done says that it is linked on the mothers side.

Q: Have you picked out names?
A: No...it's hard to pick out 2 names that are cohesive, but we're working on it.

Q: Do you feel the babies separately?
A: Absolutely! Baby B seems be be more anterior or towards the stomach and he is the one I feel kicking my stomach ALL the time. Occasionally I'll feel Baby A, but it is in a distinctly different area.

Q: Are they identical?
A: We're not sure yet, and I don't think the doctors will make this call until after the babies are born, unless they appear to be MoMo twins (mono amniotic/mono zygotic). From the ultrasound pictures, it looks as if they are sharing a placenta, but it could just be that the placentas are very close together. There is a very thing membrane between the babies so that eliminates the possibility that they are MoMo twins, which is a blessing since MoMo twins are at risk for numerous complications.

Pregnancy Update

On Friday we had the big anatomy ultrasound (1 and 1/2 hours long)! After finding out we were pregnant, I was determined that we were not going to find out the sex again, but following the first ultrasound and the discovery that we were having twins, that school of thought was thrown out the window. Twins were enough of a surprise for one pregnancy! For those who have not heard, we are expecting twin BOYS at the end of the summer. We are beyond thrilled and after explaining to Mini that she will be the only girl, she is excited too. Here are some pictures:
Twin B: Look, he's smiling!
Twin A: I think he was totally tired of getting kicked in the head by his brother :o!
Look at that 18 week belly...WOW! It's much different then last time around, in which I didn't show until after 20 weeks!

Fabulous Birthday Week

Last Monday was my birthday and my BIG present from Will and his parents arrived! It was the embroidery machine pictured below...I was/am sooo excited! Unfortunately I was sick Sunday and Monday, so I couldn't really enjoy or experiment with my new toy!
On Wednesday, the girls from work took me out to eat. Let me just tell you, I LOVE these women. They are all amazing teachers and more than that, they are awesome friends. They have this uncanny ability to turn the worst day into the best...all I have to do is go in one of their rooms and tell them about my day and then 5 minutes later I have a smile on my face and I'm ready to face the rest of the day. Needless to say, we laughed the entire dinner and were probably the loudest group in the restaurant!

To finish the week, we headed to the beach. The weather wasn't as warm as I had hoped, but we were still able to make it to the beach and play in the sand. We tried to take some family pictures, and they turned out okay, but not great. Will and I both needed this trip to the beach...we had a lot on our minds and the beach was the perfect place for us both to get some clarity.
